State Fair

Mom & Dad visited in October and we went to the State Fair. It was chaos! We couldn't believe how many people were there - they say over 3 million attend! The weather was beautiful and we saw some fun shows. And, of course, we tried some fried food! They fry anything and everything there including lemonade, alligator, frito pies, butter, salad....and the list goes on and on! It is held in a neat area called Fair Park where the Cottonbowl Stadium is located and there are also several museums that are spread out among the Fair activities.
The giant ferris wheel stands here year round
Watching Mike the pumpkin carver hard at work!

At the Amazing Doberman show...For some reason I was thinking Dachshund instead of Doberman, so was a little surprised when these big dogs ran out instead! haha
One of the Dobermans was a rare albino named Ice :) They made him look like a pony here and had another little dog riding him - cute!
Also saw some Pig Races...their motivation was Oreos at the end :)
Pirate high dive show - they dove from 80 feet up!!
Big Tex - the mascot of the Fair

Swan paddle boats at the lagoon
While they were here, they were nice enough to buy us a pressure cooker! Don't worry if you don't know what it is because everyone at the store when we bought it was asking what it was haha ~ so now I can make lots of things like her stew & steamed veggies in just a few minutes :) However, it was a little scary when we first tried it out...Mom warned me against taking off the lid until the pressure went down or it would all end up on the ceiling haha
We had a great time with them and are looking forward to Ry's parents coming next weekend!! We just bought tickets to the Mavericks vs Bulls game so that will be very fun! We only went to a pre-season game last year, so an actual game will be awesome! Also along the lines of Dallas sports it was a VERY exciting time down here during the World Series since the Rangers made it in. :) We were cheering them on til the end!!
